Our Model

Protective Services is a family owned and operated business.  We have, over the years maintained a strong working relationship with our clients.  We believe that quality of service is more important than quantity of service.  We have built our reputation by working directly with our clients and not utilizing account managers.  If a client has a concern, they communictate directly with an owner.

Who We Are

Peter J. Wilkes and Patricia J. Hutson co-founded Protective Service Systems, Inc.  The company was incorporated and licensed to conduct business in the State of Illinois in 1986.  In 1998. the owners incorporated and secured their license to provide security services in the State of Michigan.

Before founding Protective Services, Mr. Wilkes spent 18 years with the Illinois State Police, where he was Director of Executive Security and was responsible for the protection of four (4) Illinois Governors and their families.

In 1979, after retiring from the Illinois State Police, Mr. Wilkes was appointed by President Carter to serve as United States Marshal in charge of the Northern District of Illinois, and served under President Reagan, until retiring in 1986.  During his tenure as United States Marshal, he was responsible for the protection of all of the federal judges and their staff as well as 90% of the Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago.
